Things You Will Need:

  • Mirror
  • Hair Sheers
  • Comb
  • Hair Clips
  • Trash Can

  • Brush
  • Spray Bottle
  • Water

Step 1

Request the person getting their hair cut to have a seat directly in front of a mirror. Use a comb to run through the hair to untangle any ends. You don’t want the hair knotted when you get into the process of cutting it.

Step 2

Fill the spray bottle with water. Mist the hair when you are detangling to help with the process. Use on dry hair or hair that the curl pattern is tight, dampen.

Step 3

Take your time and section the hair of into manageable parts. Use the hair clips to secure each section so that they are not in the way. Twist the hair around itself to secure it. This is helpful with longer hair.

Step 4

Unclip the section of hair that is at the base (nape) of the neck.

Step 5

Comb the section out. Start from the ends of the hair. Hold the hair firmly at the root to reduce the pulling aspect of coming. Gently comb from about ¼ of an inch from the ends upwards. Use youfirst two fingers to assist in this.

Step  6

Remove approximately 1/8 of an inch with a pair of hair sheers.

Step 7

Let the cut hair go. The cut hair is shorter in length than the other hair. Use this cut hair to determine where the hair around it should be cut. Comb through the next partition of  hair. Hold the hair with you middle and index finger. Cut the hair to the right length. Repeat these steps until all the hair is cut to the desired length.

Step 8

Unsecure the next partition of hair. Pay attention to the line. Repeat the instructions above. Release the hair. Measure it against the other hair. Pull it to the equal length as the other hair.

Step 9

Inspect the hair. Enjoy your new hair cut.
