How to Make French Toast

French toast is another one of those dishes where there are as many different variations as there are people who make it.

This article, however, covers just the basics of how to make French toast that will turn out perfect every time.

Here are the basic tools and utensils you’ll need to make your French toast:

  • Medium or large non-stick skillet
  • Spatula for turning
  • Large low bowl or dish
  • Wisk or fork for stirring

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make your French toast:

  • 2-4 thick slices of bread
  • 2-3 large eggs
  • Whole or condensed milk
  • 2-3 tbsp. butter or vegetable oil

Here’s how to make your French toast

Crack your eggs into a bowl, add about a tablespoon of milk per egg and wish the mixture together for about 1 minute until bubbles start to form.

Heat up your pan on medium high and add your butter. Then gently soak your bread in the egg mixture making sure to fully coat both sides of each slice.

Once the butter begins to sizzle in the pan, move it around to coat the whole bottom and add the coated bread. Be sure not to crowd your pan because you want your French toast to cook evenly.

Cook the French toast until it’s a deep golden brown, usually 2.5 to 3 minutes and then use the spatula to flip over each slice and cook the other side for the same amount of time.

When your French toast is done on both sides, put it on a plate and add whatever toppings you like. While it’s still hot, you can add a small pat of butter so it melts through and top it off by drizzling original orĀ coffee infused maple syrup. A shake or two of cinnamon on top adds tons of flavour.

I like garnishing my French toast plate with orange slices, blueberries or even chunks of banana, but you can add whatever you prefer or just eat it plain.
